running commentary

A whole snickers

Sorry no, I mean a half marathon. Thats how far I raced today.

It was held within the RAF base Spadeadam just on the Cumbria/Northumbria border and worked its way through various forest tracks as well as a couple of miles on tarmac. At no point was it ever flat though - always up or down - not steep, but certainly slopey.

I was blessed with enough fitness/ability to be third over the line and was awarded this wee trophy for my efforts. (as well as third overall I was 1st Vet (+40yrs) and 1st civilian)

The RAF base itself would be a fantastic place for photography , with scrapped tanks, jeeps, missile launchers etc littered across the hillsides. They now serve as targets for mock bombing raids as our armed forces prepare for the various postings around the world.

Of course photography is not allowed there so this wee fella is to be my memory of the day
