Drift in space

The auditorium

This lovely but completely delapidated building was opened in 1899 as The Lyceum Theatre in Eccles. Originally it was intended to show Shakespeare and operettas but by 1900 (so that didn't last long) it also put on variety and novelty acts.

In 1932 it had changed it's name the Crown and had become a cinema. In 1963 it became the inevitable bingo house and finally closed its doors in 1990.
It is currently Salfords biggest pidgeon loft.

Fortunately the frontage is now grade 2 listed and there are plans to build appartments to the rear.
