Peel Sessions, Festive 50, a tent at Glasto &
Seven years today I returned to Cusco, Peru, after completing the Inca Trail only to hear of John Peels death in the city the day before.
Peel was probably one of the biggest influences on Kevin the rebelious teenager and even today is the first thing that springs to mind when he hears The Undertones, Teenage Kicks.
I was fortunate enough to meet him backstage at the Reading Festival in 79 where he gave me his autograph "John Peel, Fat, Forty but Fun". I've since lost the autograph but I nicked his copy of The Members, Sound Of The Suburb, on clear vinyl which I still have kicking around somewhere. So Punk:)
This is the mural painted on the side of the Prince Albert, one of the last good music pubs in Brighton. (Note the barmaid keeping an eye on me through the window).
