Woolly jumper
This year we have bought some more Swaledale ewes to replace some of the old girls that we got when we first came to Willowford 5 years ago. They are small sheep, very wild and very hardy. And very woolly. Even their ears are covered in dense, coarse wool, which perfectly protects against the cold wind and rain that winter throws at us. To be fair though, our farm will be easy for them; they live quite happily on the highest fells and dales where the wind is often stronger and colder and the grass poorer.
