Visa headache
My visa for Cameroon arrived today. Unfortunately, the Cameroon Embassy starts the clock ticking on a 3 month visa from the date of issue and not from the date of entry into the country. So my visa is dated for 3 months from 17th October and is due to end on the 17th January. However, I fly out to Cameroon on the 6th November and will leave Cameroon on the 21st January, 4 days after my visa expires. Houston, we have a problem.
A call to the embassy revealed that I can in fact extend my visa once I am in Cameroon at a cost of approximately £100 and after crossing 240 miles of rough terrain to reach Yaounde, the capital city. Houston, we still have a problem.
After explaining my plight to the man on the end of the phone, he asked me to send my passport back to the Embassy so he could extend it by 4 weeks. So I am still without visa, 11 days out from my flight date.
Today's picture is of an old football table in my Dad's shop that I used to play on about 20 years ago. I'm sure the player out of focus at the bottom left of the frame was also in the Sex Pistols.
