The Wren

All of a flap...

This morning I had a chance of at least three good blips - a red kite flying right overhead, sunlight filtering through the woods and a horde of acorns - but I had forgotten my camera.

Then later in the morning I set off with the two older boys to investigate a nearby nature reserve - with the help of a borrowed Satnav from my daughter. Once I had mastered the Satnav and learned that it could re-plan a route when you go wrong! we were safely on our way. The reserve was excellent and we spent the whole day there, particularly enjoying the large amount of wild fowl on the lake including geese, ducks of many different types and greedy terns. £1 bought a paper bag full of seed and, along with numerous other children, the two boys had a wonderful time surrounded by wild fowl eager for yet more food. During the frenzied feeding I managed to get this blip of a goose following an altercation with a rival.

The centre was also stacked with many interesting things for the children to do when we all were forced inside by the rain and there was also a friendly cafe with tasty snacks and home baking. Then as we left, the boys enjoyed time on the two adventure playgrounds getting really muddy and loving every minute of it. All in all a very successful day out.
