Next land America
The most eastern point of mainland Australia, drift out from here and the next landmass is the west coast of America (unless you get lucky and hit Fiji or Hawaii).
We walked out to the lighthouse and along the way we saw whales breaching in the ocean right in front of us! To top it off we also spotted dolphins, turtles and a manta ray. I think 'amazing' might be fast becoming an over used word on this blog but it really was spectacular!
Tomorrow we leave hippy-ville behind us and head for Melbourne. Confusingly we are currently in New South Wales (NSW) which is an hour ahead of Queensland (but on the same latitude). We travel back to Queensland tomorrow to catch our flight which lands in Victoria which has roughly the same time zone as NSW but they don't change to daylight saving at the same time. Makes working out the airport bus timetable almost as complicated as Japan!
Happy Birthday Wendell!
