Ritz Bear :)
As well as our afternoon tea, our lovely friends gifted us with a Ritz bear to take home with us as a memento of our day. She knows I like having tangible things I can keep is reminders of events, so it was very thoughtful. He came home in his very own Ritz box too, which was quite cool.
So, afternoon tea... now, I love afternoon tea, and have had it at various venues. Some I would recommend (Belgique in Brentwood and Epping- yes, yes, yes!) , some I wouldn't (Baliffscourt, Climping- no no no!)... the Ritz? Well, the Ritz is in a class of it's own. I mean, wow, it was amazing.
The food was beautiful, and as long as you want more, they will bring you more. Sandwiches, apple and raisin scones, pastries, cake and lemon posset... seriously, it was all delicious. There was a huge selection of tea. I'm normally not a very adventurous tea drinker, but had a darjeeling rather than the Ritz "house" tea, and it was lovely. Didn't even need milk!
The service was perfect. The staff were so friendly and helpful- I was worried they would be a bit snooty, but they made us feel very welcome and comfortable. I really can't fault the whole experience, and would happily recommend it! Perfect...
Ritz bear is still nameless. I'm pondering a Doctor Who related name, as he's wearing a bow tie, and in the words of the latest Doctor, "bow ties are cool"... not sure though!
