Pease Bay
Today was day one of our 2 day fieldtrip for Stratigraphy and Sedimentology. We had some pretty spectacular weather - you can see the clouds in the background which had just given us a soaking. For the remainder of the day it was a mixture of cloud and sun, and lots and lots of wind.
Wasn't half as bad as I was expecting - everything we're doing is really well explained, and the staff on had are all nice so you can ask lots of questions. The rocks down here are really interesting - if you're anywhere near it really is worth a look.
At lunch I discovered that I had forgotten a fork for my pasta, so ended up fashioning chopsticks out of two Slush Puppy straws. It didn't go very well.
Afterwards headed to Siccar Point to look again at Hutton's Unconformity. Made a map and a cross section of the geological features. We were joined by a group of 4 seals which hung around for the whole 2 hours we were there, coming so close you could hear them breathing. They're bigger than I always think.
More tomorrow, lots of parties tonight - not sure if I'll end up going out or not. Party, work - the ongoing student dilemma.
