National Celebrations
October 29th is a very broadly celebrated National Holiday in Turkey, because on that day in 1923 the Modern Turkish Republic was established by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. For days Ankara has been full off massively huge flags and images of Atatürk and today thousands of people from all over Turkey visited the Atatürk Mausoleum, which I also did in order to get an idea about how important and present Atatürk still is in the Turkish mind.
Event though I was slightly hungover today I had a very pleasant day, starting with homemade Turkish breakfast, then taking a nice and sunny walk through Ankara and finally having dinner in Bahcelievler (a very pulsive district in Ankara)-lovely! :)
