Spiky Goldcrest
Britain's smallest songbird don't you know, a smidge wee-er than Wrens.
I love these little guys. A morning ride up to Duddingston Loch had been quiet in the hour-better-sunlight than last week (a couple of days ago someone on LothianBirdNews mentioned they'd seen a Ring Ouzel and an Otter at one particular place - no such joy for me). Walking back to the bike I started getting buzzed by a pair of Goldcrests, and one was good enough to pose for me. Rounded off with a chat to a nice fella who is a bit of a landscape photographer, and whose daughter is trying to convince him to set up his own website for his shots. I gave him a blipcard.
Another stonkingly busy day. Shattered after fixing a couple of security lights (i.e. replacing them); chicken stuff; big cooked breakfast; etc etc etc. About to go and finish clearing up the garage now. Never stops! Mind you, it's still better than having to go to work on Monday morning.
Damn.
p.s. was reading the car section of the Sunday paper this morning when I noticed a message at the top of the page saying something along the lines of, "some of the editorial content in this section has been included at the request of advertisers or sponsors." Right. That'll completely unbiased reviewing then...
EDIT:
Duddingston Loch Sunrise
Shoveler (our Figgy Shoveler is back, and appears to have taken a pal with him this time...)
