~Waning Embrace~
~Trichocereus Cactus Flowers~
Last night these two flower opened.
They are about 6-8 inches tall,
And are 6 inches across when in full bloom.
By early this morning they had wilted.
It was very windy last night.
So the very sticky pedals attached themselves to each other.
Only blooming for one night, they're short lived.
The flowers give off an odor to attract bats and moths.
These night creatures are vital in the pollination process.
By tonight the two withered beauties will be replaced.
Others will take their place, such is life.
This image maybe not as gorgeous
as one showing two open flowers,
but I saw something profound
in these flowers' last caress.
Thanks for looking.
