From a Railway Carriage
Faster than fairies, faster than witches,
Bridges and houses, hedges and ditches;
And charging along like troops in a battle
All through the meadows the horses and cattle:
All of the sights of the hill and the plain
Fly as thick as driving rain;
And ever again, in the wink of an eye,
Painted stations whistle by.
Here is a child who clambers and scrambles,
All by himself and gathering brambles;
Here is a tramp who stands and gazes;
And here is the green for stringing the daisies!
Here is a cart runaway in the road
Lumping along with man and load;
And here is a mill, and there is a river:
Each a glimpse and gone forever!
This is my second favourite poem, I think of it every time I go on a train :)
Had a nice long lie in today, and then we just spent the morning hanging out with the Sheard family, who are absolutely wonderful. Milly is so adorable and so grown up since I last saw her! She was explaining to me for quite some time all the full names of the Scooby Doo characters, and then we played a game with our hands which I didn't really understand; I know I kept losing though.
Anna and I got the train back to Reading together, had a hot chocolate, and then I got my train back to Cardiff. It was absolutely packed so I spent a good couple of hours mainly squished against the luggage rack. I did manage to read a lot of my book though!
