The Corpus Clock
We had to go into Cambridge tonight to drop Mum & Dad off as we had bought them tickets to see Jools Holland. So we parked the car & had a little wander through the streets of Cambridge after dark. I must admit there were a few "characters" walking around!
This picture is of the Corpus Clock, it was designed by John Taylor & unveiled by Stephen Hawking in 2008. The 'beast' on the top of the clock is known as the Chronophage, which means 'Time Eater'. But it is more affectionately known as 'Rosalind' by the students.
The clock is accurate only once every five minutes. The rest of the time, the pendulam catches or stops, then races to get ahead. According to Taylor, this erratic motion reflects life's 'irregularity'. Which is so true.
