Sunday and the long established Blessing Of The Fleet ceremony. A community and religous celebration of the solidarity amomg the predominately Italian and Portuguese fishing fleet. The tradition originated in Molfetta, Italy and Capo D'Orlando, Sicily. The ritual calls for divine providence to protect ships and crews from the dangers of the seas, as well as ensuring fishermen will return to Fremantle with a bountiful catch.
