Pond Skater

This is a Pond Skater (or Water Strider) Gerris Lacustris (8mm). A very common aquatic bug, larger than the Water Measurer, which also skims the surface film of lakes and ponds, never breaking the surface to get wet. It is a scavenger, feeding on various luckless insects that fall into the water and drown.

And just around the corner was this wild rose(?) and a windblown clover.

All in all, a good day.
