2-handled cup...
and saucer...
this was a birthday gift from a dear friend many years ago... it's a limoges and very old - dating probably to about 1920... it is in perfect condition - with no cracks or chips on it. limoges is based in france and has made porcelain products for a very long time now (at least early 1800's) - they're valuable and antique collectors will hunt constantly for quality pieces which are unusual and beautiful...
this one is handpainted and i especially love it because it's got the 2-handled cup... why? i've no idea... was the thought that someone would need both hands to pick up such a delicate thing to drink from... to protect it... or just to add to the conversation... to begin a conversation... to end the conversation? i've not seen another one like this... in terms of limoges.
needless to say - i don't use this piece... i can be clumsy and i know it's said that you shouldn't wait to use things - should enjoy them in the moment... but i prefer to enjoy the looking at - with this particular item. it has a special place where i see it every day - it's not packed away in a box - so it brings me pleasure all the time and reminds me of the generosity of friendship. making for...
a
happy day.....
