Kunqu Opera

We had a trip to a chinese opera house this afternoon. Backstage, as I was trying to get a good photo of a girl applying her makeup, I somewhow got rigged into getting my face done. Didn't exactly put up a fight though...

20 minutes later, complete with a fancy costume and a beautifully painted face I was onstage learning how to hold my fingers, bend my wrists, cross my feet, twist my body in one direction, stoop, and turn my head to stare longingly in the opposite direction. Ha!

And then we watched the show which involved theft, concubines, martial arts in the dark and suprisingly little singing.

A good way to spend a Tuesday afternoon yes...
