Shah Jahan Mosque, Woking
It's our middle son Robert's birthday today, so we went out to get him a present and passed the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking. It's one of the oldest mosques in the UK and part of Woking's heritage. It was established originally as a place of worship for all faiths. Now it is used solely by muslims.
It is so tucked away that I bet most of the people who live in Woking have never seen it other than possibly catching a glimpse of the onion tower that you can see from the train as it passes.
As the protest camp in front of St Paul's Cathedral continues, I wonder what the response would be if someone established a camp in the grounds of a mosque such as this, protesting against Taliban outrages in Afghanistan. Just a thought. There's a banner in front of the Cathedral that says: "What would Jesus say?" The banner here might ask: "What would Muhammad say?"
