Sunshine on a rainy
Another early start and from talking to the old guy at the bus stop, the buses here seem to turn up whenerver they want. He says that the bus the other morning was a whopping great 25 minutes late. As this is the first and only bus from the village at that time of the morning, I really cant count on this as a method of getting to work transport.
If I can get myself to the next village across, I can get a day saver ticket for £3.30 for a whole days travel. This at the moment would seem dependant on Connie getting out of bed to drop me off, however she opted for me paying the extra this morning for the bus.
Fairly uneventfull trip to work, except it seems that since updating my iphone to the latest version that my itunes has gone wonky and its not playing and displaying songs properly.
I have however found that if you want the seat next to you left free no matter how busy the bus is, all you would have to do is put your hoodie up and everytime someone walks up the isle just pat the seat next to you. I may try this technique tomorrow.
I spend break time today looking for a new car and come across an Mg Midget that looks quite nice. I like cars that are a little way away from the normal and once owned an MGB GT for the summer which was great fun.
I think that I have settled on a sensible Audi A3, a Lexus IS200, A Mitsubishi Evo 4 or something classic and useable. However, so many inspiring cars out there and Im limited to try to narrow it down to just one.
A quick phone call to Eric and tell him I have some news, he asks if I have joined the circus, I tell him not this week.
I phone back later and ask him what he thinks of midgets ( i kid you not), this has nothing to do with the circus joke earlier, both Eric and Dad served their apprenticeships on British Cars, so I think that this is a relevant question.
He says, I dont know, what do you mean what do I think of midgets, I say, well Eric, its an easy question, whats your thoughts on midgets and whats dads thoughts on midgets.
Midgets Andy ?
Yeh You know Midgets ? You've been worked under a few in your time haven't you ?
He says, Ok, is she blonde ? I say No, of course not, she is black.
He was like, Eh, a Black Midget, you dont see many of those going about ?
So I says, so what do you think of them, he says I dont know, I havent met her yet.
I go, Ok,Ok, so do you think that you or dad can go and look at her and take her for a spin.
Eric goes, Im not sure what your asking here.
The penny drops that he doesnt have a clue what Im on about, So I say to him, Eric, I think we are cross purposes here, I dont mean like "HI HO", I mean like as in MG....
Once he has stopped laughing, he says that dad and him will have a look at the link that I sent.
Having cottoned onto this as a source of amusement, I phone Connie and ask her what she thinks of midgets ? Bizarrely, she says, what do you mean like Midget Gems, the chewy sweeties ? Having found great chortles in this, I txt John and his reply is a follows:
What do you think of midgets ?
He says, Theyre all right as long as you cook them long enough. I've got a good recipe for a risotoo if you want it. Why ?
I txt Mcgoo and finally get some sense and replies that he prefers the Austin Healey.
However, this leads onto Connie and Jeanie at work having a conversation as to how innapropriate it is to buy a two seater sports classic, when you have kids. My argument to this is that we have a family car and it would be a bit of fun.
She says there no where for the kids to sit, (my thoughts exactly)
I send the link to Connie and she replies "dont really like it good for a sporty car but sorry not kids" to which I reply
"Wheres your sense of glorious adventure, the wind in your hair, parking in wooded lanes or at the beach, picnic hampers and straw hats, flying jackets, goggles and white scarves billowing in the wind."
I think that life is far to short to worry about the what ifs and If I want to buy a two seater sports car then I can live with all the midlife crisis jokes that I had to suffer when I bought the subaru. Besides, if she can paint the walls midlife teal, I think this is eeksie peeksie?? (evens for those not familiar with the lingo)
Maybe a Z3 might be better though..
I see all of my daughter in one place this evening and it always makes me feel blessed that I have such good looking, quirky, individual, special daughters that a father could hope for. Dear Girls, I love you all. (except when your a walking hormone)
