The Wistful Pigeon

Today's the day ...................... to ponder

I came across this pigeon on a concrete post of the footbridge over the River Kent when I took a lunchtime stroll today. It seemed lost in thought and I was able to get quite close to it.

Was it contemplating the meaning of life - and what lay in store for it in the near future? Was it thinking of moving on to another town and leaving the past behind? Had things got really bad for it - a relationship breakdown perhaps? Was it at the end of its tether and about to take drastic steps to end it all for good?

Are pigeons capable of pondering .................?
