Faded

Not a very good picture tonight but I wanted to share. Yesterday afternoon, Rachel called me because she had just received the "official" letter of acceptance and "welcome" to Fresno State University. After she read the whole letter to me over the phone (as several customers waited for me to stop smiling and get off the phone, my older daughter got on the phone and said, "I'll bet when she was little and you were teaching her how to read, you never thought that someday she would be reading you her acceptance into college letter, did you?" No, I did not. I did believe, however, that she could learn to read, and I knew that if I taught her nothing would stop her. But I never imagined how far she would want to go. For those of you who don't know, my incredible daughter (well, one of my incredible 4 daughters - the one heading off to college Jan 3rd) has Down Syndrome. She never let it hold her back and I am so glad that we live in a time when society is not holding her back either and when there are wonderful opportunities for someone who has the desire to learn and the will to succeed. We are so lucky!
