Guardians of the Garden

In 2007 this massive 150 year old red oak fell. Now it is the centerpiece of a restful spot in the Arboretum where people can relax and reflect. This plaque gives the story of this interesting piece of art.

My real reason for going to the Arboretum today was to visit the rhododendron garden. The blooms were at their peak while we were in Arizona for 10 days (unfortunately), but there were still enough blooming today to make it a great bliptrip. My (mostly) rhododendron pictures can be seen here if you have the time.

The weather in Ohio today has done an unpleasant turn around. A week ago, right before we returned from Arizona, we had a frost warning. Today it is 97 degrees and very humid. I was never so hot and uncomfortable while we were in Arizona as I am here in Ohio today. Can you believe it?
