leaves on freshly fallen...

...snow

yup... we had more snow - last night and today... but the nastier kind - where it begins with rain and turns to freezing pellets before the snow begins... brrrrr...

blizzards warnings were out for north of the city and the morning commute was a mess... which i don't quite understand. why is it that people forget how to drive in snow and on ice? it was just last week we had a storm... with some major snow fall - so from one week to the next everyone goes brain dead on how to drive safely and be smart on the roads... causing accidents - driving into curbs and onto curbs - doing the rollover thing with their vehicles and various other sundry stupid dangerous things in winter conditions... i say they shouldn't be let out of their homes if they don't know how to act on the roads. just because you have a 4- wheel drive vehicle - or a big suv - or a truck - does not make you an expert or make you immune to bad conditions caused by ice and snow... for some reason, those who have these types of vehicles tend to believe once they get behind the wheel all bets are off and they've gotten some kind of "free" card that allows them to drive however they want... i know that's a broad generalization and doesn't really apply to all who drive those types of vehicles... i'm just sayin'.

i have a regular type of car - a simple 2-door that gets me from point a to point b... although since my accident i do suffer from a level of anxiety now with driving. that aside though, i will remember the advice from my high school driving instructor as well as my daddy for driving in poor weather conditions... take it slow and steady - don't be in a hurry... pay attention and drive defensively and don't slam on the brakes. this has always kept me in good stead... i've never caused an accident and have always made it safely to where i need to go.

but these days, i prefer to stay home in bad weather - especially snow... enjoying the white stuff - all pristine and pretty from the warmth of home...

that makes for...

a

happy day.....
