MALBA
My Registrando Buenos Aires class went to the MALBA today, the museum of modern Latin American art in Buenos Aires. I've been meaning to go here after this class because the museum has free admission on Wednesdays, yet I'm always either too tired or unmotivated to go. So my teacher deciding to bring us all there was perfect. I was kind of too tired today to really appreciate it, but it was fun. The main exhibit right now is a collection by Carlos Cruz- Diez, the photo above is from his installation El color en el espacio y en el tiempo (Color in space and time). Besides the light room, he had other paintings/sculptures that dealt with using lines of different colors to create images and different colors depending on the angle at which you looked at the painting. There are also many pieces of art by famous Latin American painters such as Diego Rivera, Wilfred Lam, Frida Kahlo, and David Siquieros on the second floor on display right now. I would highly recommend a visit to this museum, El color en el espacio y en el tiempo will be on display until March 5th, 2012.
If anyone wants to go, admission is free for students, and discounted for everyone else, every Wednesday and it is located on Av. Figueroa Alcorta, just before the Japanese Gardens. Colectivo 130 takes you right there. For more info check out the MALBA's website, you can view it in English, Spanish, or Portuguese:
