Samhuinn
Busy day today. There were items to go to the post office, rats to buy, costumes to finish, flat to tidy and cookies to bake. Not to mention actually getting ready for the night.
It's Samhuinn this evening and as with every year, the Beltane Fire Society put on a performance in the city centre. I organised the bucketeers (fundraisers) this year so they all came round to mine beforehand to get ready. We seemed to have struck lucky with the weather as we waited for our taxi, it was pleasantly warm. We got to parliament square, collected our donation buckets, quick group photo before half the group headed to join the procession and the rest of us stayed in the square. The cookies I'd baked went quickly, free in exchange for a donation.
As the procession kicked off, the heavens opened. It poured and poured and poured. Drenched to the skin we used it to our advantage, after all, these lovely people were putting on a performance for free, out of the goodness of their hearts whilst the audience all stood under umbrellas wrapped in waterproofs. It was a great night, the rain was warm so it didn't dampen our spirits and those who stayed seemed to enjoy themselves.
