Promontory Fort

Usually when I walk my attention is primarily on the natural history of the area. Today was quite different, went for an outing with freespiral with a definite historical emphasis. We visited two ancient holy wells, saw standing stones, ring forts, promontory forts and we noticed old ruins to be explored another day! My blip shows the view from the promontory fort, they date back to the Iron Age and were built on very steep cliffs, according to Wikipedia, they are found in Ireland, Cornwall, Orkney and the Isle of Man, fun morning exploring rounded off by a delicious lunch.
