1200 Foodbaskets

Recycling of the foods by handing them out for free to the poor and needy. We, local vollunteers, filled up 1200 of these green baskets with a variety of yesterdays' foods that had been delivered from the shops.
Apart from the bread, apples, tomatoes and salad heads nothing was yesterdays' fresh food, but outdated according to the stamp on the package. No dairy products here and no sausages either, just cereals, choclats and bevvies - welcome extras I suppose.

Volunteers who do the work for some years now told me the variety and quantity in goods is deminishing on a quick level while the need for these aid baskets is growing on a quick level as well. Makes me wonder how come - are goods sold in sales and dumped less quickly or do we eat & hoard more foods since hard times hit?
