this is day 4 of my program's week-long trip.


We spent the morning at the Ancient City of Jiaohe and later went to an open bazaar. 
This photo was taken at the Emin Minaret/Sugong Pagoda. Last semester, I wrote a final paper on Islamic architecture, so I really enjoyed this visit. 
It was our final day in Xinjiang, so our tour guide invited us to her house. She gave us bread, cantaloupe, and pomegranates---all local treats and then we sadly said our goodbyes.
We spent the night on an overnight train.
