Skellig

No fireworks for me tonight. Too wet! And last year my daughter just turned her back on them and announced, 'I'm not looking at them!'

So instead you get an image of the book I've just finished: 'Skellig' by David Almond. I think it's read in a lot of primary schools but I haven't read it before. It's brilliant - really well written. A very simple story, told beautifully. Writing childrens' books is such an art. It's a real talent to use words relatively sparingly but create something with real depth.
