Dai Patterson
After the rugby match was called off yesterday due to the deluge of rain we had, I was over the moon to find out a match would be played on that pitch today. If you didn't see it here was the puddle on the pitch. I have to commend the ground staff and all those who helped to get the pitch ready for todays game, Newport v Bridgend.
I was hoping to get a Fran Cotton type shot today but the ground held up to all the pounding. For the first time in ages Newport started the game with passion and determination, at half time we lead 22-8, things were looking up. But then it happened, Bridgend winger, Christian Phillips score with in about a minute of the kick off. We held the lead until about 5 mins to go when Bridgend scored, they held on and took the win 30-32. It was a great game to watch with 8 tries being scored, Newport were hauled down very close to the line on about 3 occasions so perhaps things are looking up.
The image today is of Dai Patterson, last week he made his 200th appearance for Newport so today he celebrated with a try.
