LAW OF THE JUNGLE

I'm not sure why I called this the " Law of the jungle " but there is something quite primitive about nature and the pursuit of food., as these two Caspian Terns are showing - they had quite a battle for this young herring in the mouth of the lead bird. I was surprised at the size of the herring.

On a more ordinary note - the Caspians are back in our Estuary - there were three yesterday and the day before and today I sighted 11. So things back to the same as last season. Great ! and they were busy fishing today which is encouraging for our Estuary following the bad Earthquake damage to the sea floor. They seemed to be getting plenty of fish too - Great !!
