Another Languedoc year...

Enough

I promise not to keep on about the rain, but a year's rainfall in three days is somewhat out of the ordinary. We had no rain for months on end and our grapevines were desperately in need of a good drenching - and they've got it. The vineyard sits in a natural amphitheatre, so today's walk with the dogs was accompanied by the roaring of newly-formed streams pouring down over the rocks.

Unsurprisingly we have the odd leak in our 350 year old roof, as does everyone else in the area, and our recently-replaced laundry-room roof has had a partial collapse, causing the central heating boiler to short out. We'll have to get the builder back.

But the rain has stopped and at least the sun has made a brief appearance today, so things are looking up.
