The Lace Factory, Olney
Lace was produced by outworkers in the surrounding district. The Lace Factory was used to make lace for articles such as handkerchiefs and table linen but perhaps more importantly to market and pack for shipment within the UK and abroad.
It was the Flemish Prostestants who brought lace making to England during the 1560's. Many immigrants moved out of the crowded ports and began to settle into areas now regarded as the historic centres for lace making in the county of Buckinghamshire, settling in Newport Pagnell, Buckingham and Olney.
The building is now converted into apartments.
