Arboreal Dichotomy

It has been the most beautiful day here. Clear blue skies from dawn until dusk. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make such good use of it as I would have liked. A software job which I had hoped to finish yesterday in good time for Monday has dragged on and on ... and on. The truth is that I'm not as nimble of mind when it comes to writing code as I used to be, and I keep forgetting that I need to allow myself much longer than in the past. Another reminder to myself that the sooner I can delegate all of this stuff away the better for everybody! Not much longer now. That's a promise to myself!

Normally this would be a day for a long ride on the bike, but I've got the running vibe going at the moment so I perhaps wasn't as frustrated as I could have been. Aware that I've been taking a lot of shots on the moor recently, I decided to head across to the other side of the valley and take a run in Middleton Woods. I realised today that I haven't returned here since my very first blip on May 1st. I'm always far more drawn to the moors than the woods because I so love the vast open space of it all, but also because I can run straight up the hill from my house. To get to the woods I have five minutes of running across town, hardly an ordeal, but I'm so spoilt that it can put me off!

Today I reminded myself that I really should make the effort more often. The woods were stunningly beautiful. I took loads of pictures, and it's been very hard to choose which to blip. This shot is taken of the stile at the western exit of the woods, showing the strange dichotomy which exists at the moment between some trees which have shed virtually all their leaves and others which are still resplendent in their full autumn glory.

I'm having to blip and run tonight to finish this piece of work off before it gets too late and the brain too tired. I would just like once again to say a big thank you to all those who have left such great comments this weekend and particularly those lovely people who favourited yesterday's Divergence. I rather liked the image too. You have great taste!

Edit note - It was a very quick original blip post so just before bed I reviewed the photos I took and decided I preferred this version. I don't think I've ever changed an image before, but it's just a slightly longer view upon the same scene. The change of mind seems to be symptomatic of a rather fuzzy mode of thinking at the moment.
