8:30pm and eating.

It's a happy place to be.

Today was a day of reckoning.

For the car; the wheel alignment all done after the suspension work was completed on Friday. What about a 280mile journey?!

For the roof-bars and bike racks; will they work? Will they significantly impact fuel economy (I have a spreadsheet for fuel consumption going back five years, before which I had paper calculations... which may not surprise you)

For the family; will we unwind, relax and avoid the weeWeir becoming unwell as has happened on previous trips

For the temperature; will I have to relent and commence the wearing of trousers when not in work again (have no fear, viewers, shorts are still very much part of the wardrobe outside of work).

For Center Parcs (our destination); will their "newly refurbished" lodge live up to expectations?

Today was very relaxed, comfortable and smooth. A little heavier on fuel, but you get that with all the accoutrements of family holiday packed into the car and the bikes on top...

Only snag was a later-than-expected arrival resulting in a long wait in the queue to get in. But the lodge is nice, warm and comfortable and the weeWeir settled no bother after a nice evening stroll in the (man-made) woods of the village.

Still wearing shorts.

Here's the steel lampshade suspended over the dinning table in our wee lodge for the week.

This is a back-blip as we've been away on holiday with patchy signal and a desire (for me at least) to un-plug from the internet for a wee while.
