Royal Candian Legion Branch 92
Our local Legion.
Salt Spring Branch 92 received its Charter in 1931, and the Ladies Auxillary in 1947.
The Branch raised enough money to purchase the Ganges United Church Manse in 1955 and this became the centre of Legion and Auxillary activities until the more recent move to the current branch premises in 1988. The Branch is on Blain Road on land deeded to the branch by Cde E.G. (Ted) Meaden, who also deeded thousends of dollars towards the building itself.
They also have a Legion Pipe Band which performs July 1st, Canada Day and leads the procession on Remembrance Day, November 11th. I hope to photograph the even this year.
2007: Renovation.
