Life and Death

I like to leave some globe artichokes to flower, the bees love them. They are all dying now but I noticed this one trying to push out it's flower.
Transplanted some self seeded birch trees today in the new woodland, they were replacing a few casualties from spring planting. Got it all done but the motivation was a bit lacking today, maybe missing Doriane, my companion tree planter!
