What's All This About?
Up in Glasgow for a couple of days so Mrs B can do some early Christmas shopping. Not my scene but an opportunity to visit a couple of photographic shops and see some cameras in the "flesh"!
A new camera is what I have asked Santa for, but can't decide whether to go for a bridge camera or a starter DSLR. I am in a bit of a quandary as I quite fancy either the Canon Powershot SX 40 HS or the Panasonic FZ 45 with their big X 35 and X 24 zooms. There again there's the Fujifilm HS 20. With any of them I would have a better chance of blipping some wildlife, which so far has been sadly missing from my blips.
A nice you gentlemen in Jessops, who knew his cameras inside out, suggested I should try the Samsung NX11, a compact system camera that has a DSLR quality sensor but no big zoom. Or do I make the big jump and get an entry level DSLR with a standard lens and buy add ons later? Decisions, decisions. Any advice from fellow blippers will be welcomed!
And today's blip? Well, as I was walking up Buchanan Street admiring the wonderful architecture my attention was drawn to the frontage of Princes Square. Now, I have always liked this building both for its wonderful interior and the clean lines of its sandstone exterior. But what in the heck it this? I know the Square has had a stupid looking peacock sculpture thing on the roof since it was renovated, but what's this on the wall? Looks like black leaf shaped garlands of metal, which I am guessing are an attempt at Christmas decorations! But what if they are not! Might this a permanent feature? Hopefully not!
Maybe its just a reflection of the sombre economic times we live in. Time will tell!
