A new day dawns....

By Nicdawncav

It's easier to go to work.

Today was a trying day. A marathon of arguments with the kids, sometimes interrupted by a spot of refereeing of their fights. I sometimes feel like an army officer. The most annoying thing is when they've forgotten all about it, I'm left with a hideous mood that is difficult to shift. To top it all off, Ali had left 6 homework sheets for the last day of the holiday. Not entirely his fault, his schoolbag had been left at his grandmother's house whilst we were away and we could only collect it today. So, we took it to the beach to do it there. The weather was amazing, people were swimming and sunbathing. However, the homework experience was horrendous. I caught Ali answering his multiple choice maths questions in random fashion (nice try!) but then he was less than amused to be told to redo them, showing the workings. So whilst the other adults got to sit and enjoy the scenery, I got to be army officer in homework mode whilst Ali squealed like a piglet who'd had his foot trodden on. The whole repertoire of discontented sounds and faces came out ( from him!) in a determined effort to acquire some sympathy from the surrounding people. Nightmare. Thank god it's work for me tomorrow!
