158 Squadron Memorial

The whole family went for lunch at the Trout Inn, Wansford. The food is fabulous & there was lots of it - yum!

On the way home we visited the 158 Squadron Memorial at Lissett. The memorial depicts a 7 man bomber crew, in silhouette. The names of the 851 men lost from the squadron, during WWII, are etched on the memorial.

Bomber command lost 65% of it's aircrew during WWII, the average age of crew members was 22.
