1. To Liberty. I know it's a shop, but this just isn't shopping to me. I weave my way up through the floors, this is what I am here for and there is no time limit. I know at the top lies fabric and furniture. I know that's where I'm heading. On my way I meander through designer vintage, shoes and the christmas shop. This is what I wanted.
2. I leave onto Carnaby Street and wander. Just wander. Elly had told me about a Porteuguese tapas place just round the corner - it fits into the plan of only eating things I can't get at home, but when I find it, it's packed and I'm not that hungry so I walk on. Later I find a market and buy a salt beef bagel. The guy let's me try his Borscht. I take it - three quid for a massive bowl and a hunk of bread.
3. I walk on and find a fabric shop or two for a good rummage. I find myself in Soho square and eat my lunch. From there (a slightly stained park bench later - if anyone sat down in cream trousers after me, I'm sorry) I walk to Covent Garden, to the river and on to Tate.
4. The Turbine Room will always, always take the breath away.
5. And here I am, home in Glasgow. Just a couple of days but a couple of days well spent is like a deposit in the bank. Savings.
