I went to a going-away get-together for a colleague. Budget cuts within the department have eliminated her job. Fortunately, she was able to move to another department without much trouble. In fact, she was offered the position during her interview. It's sad to see her leave under such conditions, but good to know that she won't have any lapse between jobs.
