11-11-11

11-11-11, Veterans Day. Remembrance Day. holiday from school and day care. So we took the granddaughters to the Seattle Art Museum in a rain and windstorm - they were both mesmerized by Korean Artist Do Ho Suh's Gate installation, part of "Luminous, the Art of Asia: SAM's Classic Asian Treasures Illuminated by contemporary Artis Do Ho Suh." Here is a link to this piece, (I hope)GATE
Then we spent the rest of the afternoon getting ready for the family birthday party here for our 4 October/November guy birthdays (H, both sons, and Niklas who turns 9 in a week) . Fiona took a nap, glory be! And Tatum is a big help decorating, setting the table, making nametags and favors, and cleaning and arranging . She organized a game to find all the "11's" -objects grouped together by 11's. Including 11 jelly bellys for each person, 11 boxes piled high, 11 monkeys in a barrell, 11 objects on the mantle.... Not sure if anyone figured them all out! I was too pooped after this party to post the blip so here it is the next day -we're still digging out - chose this one of #1 son as it was his exact birthday (he was born 11-11-66) and all the little kids were in it with Aunt Marie's cheesecake (NOT low fat). Actually Tatum frosted cupcakes for the kids who wouldn't eat cheesecake. They don't really look like they cause such noise and commotion do they? Good loud time was had by all.....
