Magic!
One of those days that seems to get taken over by a single event when it shouldn't really of have.
Emma was invited to her school friend's party - he is six just a few weeks ahead of her. First, it was go out and find some presents and card to give. Then it was elsewhere to buy blouse that would go with her party dress. Back home for lunch and quick look at the F1 qualifying, with enquiries every ten minutes or so 'is it time to go to the party yet'? Eventually it was.
There was an entertainer / magician booked for it which sounded a good idea. I'm sure he is a magician, but I am not sure he was too sure of himself around children of sixish. Some of the boys obviously became a little bored after a few hours and would suddenly get up and run around and he had great trouble gaining their attention again. At one point masses of playing cards shots out of the top hat. A slightly older audience would have laughed and carried on, but this lot jumped up and started gathering them off the floor for him!
Poor bloke. However, one of the other parents did say to me, I bet this is the first children's party you've been to where Ian Duncan-Smith was the entertainer! He was right of course.
To protect his professional identity, I have obscured his face. Next time he should bring a radio mic with him! You can just see Emma's back - she is in the far right with the long hair and spotty dress.
