Tuning Up

A few members of the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra tuning up for a full orchestra performance at Government House this afternoon. The FCO fills a gap between students at the premier music education institutions and the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra and is a stepping stone onto an international career for some. Above all it provides a wealth of concert experience that cannot be taught from books...and brings the best of the world's most enduring music to the local community.

FCO members come from a wider base as some are professional musicians, some former musicians of note and advanced students. The orchestra is unsubsidised financially and exists with the support of an enthusiastic community that turn up regularly and some very much appreciated backing from business.

Above all it is the musicians themselves that support the orchestra by performing because they want to and not because they are obliged to.
