So, the thing in the attic takes the DC current from these panels and converts it to AC for use around the home and (if any is unused) export to the grid.

Today is a bit of a grey drizzly day so amount produced is low, however yesterday was sunny with some cloud so it did ok for the time of year. Come the spring and summer and it will really start paying for itself.
