Lest We Forget
Forget-Me-Nots
I walked the beach from end to end
As I did so many years ago
I saw my friends die one by one
Upon a foreign shore
The village was in ruins
Where we spent our carefree years
I sat upon the harbour war
Beneath the pale blue sky
A lonliness came over me
As silently I cried
I knelt and prayed beside the grave
Where my fiends were laid to rest
I placed a wreath of forget-me-nots
On that little patch of land
May "God" protect the nation's children
From the miseries of war
