'The Chutney'
Well here it is, the finished article. Had some for tea tonight and it was very tasty. Now here is the recipe for all you cooks.
Ingredients:-
3 lbs beetroot
1 1/2 lbs cooking apples
1/2 lb sugar
2 onions
1 teaspoon ginger
3/4 pint vinegar
Method:- Cook beetroot in boiling water, peel and cut into cubes.
Peel and cut apples and onion into small pieces. Put in pan with ginger and vinegar and sugar.
Cook over gentle heat for 1/2 hour stirring frequently.
Add beetroot cubes and cook for a further 15 mins. Allow to cool before placing in jars or other containers. Enjoy.
