days I'll remember

Dad

My dad photographed at the Remembrance Service on the green at the Cockenzie and Port Seton war memorial this morning. It was the first time in years that I had been back to my hometown for the service and I was surprised to see so many people attending; it made me realise what a local spirit still exists there.

From left to right the medals are the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star and the 1939-45 War Medal; the other three are Russian medals awarded over the last few years to servicemen who took part in the Arctic convoys which delivered supplies to Russia. The British government has never awarded a medal specifically for that campaign.

The badge is that of the 'Z' Class Destroyer Association.
